Hundreds of Purses and Hygiene Products to be Donated to Homeless Shelters and Domestic Violence Centers in Denver
The She Leads Group aims to distribute 500 purses during third annual community service event.
DENVER – April 6, 2022 – The SHE Leads group – Supporting Heart and Enterprise TM has announced the kick off of its third annual Purse Project to support homeless and displaced women of Denver. The community service project aims to collect 500 gently used purses to be stuffed with new personal hygiene items. Filled purses will distributed to women’s shelters and domestic violence centers across Denver.
During the first two years of the Purse Project, SHE Leads distributed more than 300 purses to nine different organizations. “We were so thankful that despite COVID we were able to make a positive impact for the homeless and displaced women of Denver,” says SHE Leads Group founder Beth Boen. “Our goal with the Purse Project is to uplift women who feel unseen,”
On April 19, 2022, SHE Leads will host a kick-off event to begin the 2022 Purse Project. The event is anticipated to attract nearly 100 attendees and filled purses. Following the event, donations of gently used purses and new personal hygiene products will be accepted until August 23, 2022. Purses pre-filled with personal hygiene products are also accepted.
“While the purses may contain physical items like shampoos and hairbrushes, we hope those who receive them feel love, hope and support,” Boen says.
This year’s kick-off event will feature Rebecca Hawthorne of Family Tree, a non-profit human services agency providing innovative, life-changing services designed to end child abuse, domestic violence and homelessness. Hawthorne will be sharing the impact Family Tree has on the Denver metro community, as well as the impact the Purse Project has on those seeking the organization’s services.
