Purses with a Purpose

DENVER, CO – September 17, 2020: SHE Leads Group – Supporting Heart & Enterprise™ is a women’s networking organization for women entrepreneurs and career women. Their mission to support women goes beyond just the members in their organization. As an organization, SHE Leads Group coordinates multiple community outreach projects throughout the year. On Wednesday, September 16, members of SHE Leads Group delivered purses with a purpose and served a meal to the clients of The Delores Project. The Delores Project provides welcoming, low-barrier shelter and services for unaccompanied women and transgender individuals during times of homelessness.

Five members of SHE Leads Group, including the Founder, Beth Boen and Volunteer Community Outreach Coordinator and SHE Member, Erin Glombecki of RE/MAX Professionals delivered 66 purses and served a meal to the clients of The Delores Project. Beth Boen said, “Erin Glombecki, came to me with the idea of filling purses with necessary personal items and delivering them to a women’s shelter. She heard of The Delores Project and all the good they do in the community. We decided to do something for them.” More than 60 purses and 3 transition backpacks were filled and collected from SHE Leads Group members. These purses and backpacks were given to the clients of The Delores Project. In addition to the purses collected from members, many members also made cash donations to buy and prepare a meal for the clients of The Delores Project. The purses and back packs contain items such as shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, tooth brushes, dental floss, feminine products, socks, gloves, hats, decks of cards, chap sticks, and donated all-natural soaps from one of the members, Alo Goods.

Other ways in which SHE Leads Group supports women in the community through community outreach include food drives, clothing drives, and another recent project was for Street Business School (SBS). SBS is on a mission to end extreme poverty by lifting up a new generation of women entrepreneurs. Beth Boen recalls, “Nicole Powers, Philanthropy Associate of Street Business School, reached out to me and asked to give each of our chapters a presentation on their organization. I love SBS’s mission and it fit in with what we do in supporting women. We welcome non-profit organizations serving women to come to our meetings and give us a 5 minute presentation.” Out of those presentations, one member, Mary Gaul of Success Magnified did a birthday fundraiser for SBS and SBS sent all the members of SHE Leads Group printed postcards in which each member wrote a note of encouragement for the women enrolled in their program.  SHE Leads Group made a donation to cover the costs of the postcards and postage.

Beth Boen states, “SHE Leads Group is growing through COVID-19 and with that blessing, we are able to do more not only for those in our organization, but for other non-profits in the community who serve women.”
