SHE Leads Group Holds Community Service Project: “SHE Leads Purse Project”

DENVER, CO – August 28, 2021: SHE Leads Group has filled purses with love, hope and support for homeless women of Denver. With a focus on their mission to support women, SHE Leads Group is donating 240 gently used purses filled with personal necessities and other items to make women feel empowered and special.

This mission of support goes beyond just SHE Leads Group members, but to all women of all backgrounds. Every year, SHE Leads Group members participate in a community service project to give back to their community. Due to such a positive and successful response from the SHE Leads Purse Project in 2020, SHE Leads Group decided to continue the tradition. This year, SHE set a goal to collect more than 100 purses to deliver to various women’s shelters in Denver Metro and they far exceeded that goal.

SHE Leads Group members donated gently used purses filled with personal items such as shampoos, soap, hand sanitizer, sunscreen, toothbrushes and toothpaste, first aid kits, socks, hairbrushes, OTC pain relievers, gum, cough drops, snacks, feminine items and many other items a homeless woman would appreciate. Donations have come from SHE Leads Group members, and from members promoting this cause to their spheres of influence and collecting more donations. Several organizations have been contacted this year for their residents to be the recipients of these gently used purses filled with personal items.

So far, more than three times the purses have been donated this year, than from last year and the Founder of SHE Leads Group, Beth Boen states, “Currently we have 240 filled purses. Some are gently used purses and others are brand new purses that women went out and bought, and all of them are stuffed with personal items.” She continued, “It is so exciting that we more than doubled our goal this year. The generosity of the SHE community will allow us to deliver purses to several organizations.” Those organizations include Volunteers of America residences: The Delores Project and Sinton’s Sanctuary, at least one of the Family Tree residences, Comitis Crisis Center, and the Irving Street Women’s Residence.

Additionally, SHE Leads Group members have donated cash to provide a meal to the residents of the Irving Street Women’s Residence.  About a dozen of the SHE Leads Group members will make and serve a meal to the residents on Tuesday, August 31 from 5 to 7 p.m. Members will also mingle with the residents and hand out purses. Erin Glombecki of RE/MAX Professionals and a SHE Leads Group member is the volunteer project coordinator of this event. Beth Boen said, “Erin, came to me with the idea of filling purses with necessary personal items and delivering them to a women’s shelter last year and our members now look forward to this project every year.”

Women who join SHE Leads Group want to be members because of this culture of women supporting women in any way possible. Their annual community service project is just one of the many ways that SHE members are Supporting Heart and Enterprise™ (S.H.E.).
